A CONTROVERSIAL anti-abortion group at the University of NSW has been dealt a blow after the student union refused to affiliate with the society.
LifeChoice UNSW, which was launched in August after the University of Sydney’s own anti-abortion society gained momentum, was told at a meeting held earlier this month that its guidelines did not comply with union policy .
The decision of the union — known as Arc — means the society will not receive any funding and cannot advertise events on campus or access the university’s facilities.
“LifeChoice is a pro-life group and they (the union) thought you can’t have open discussion if you’ve already decided on an issue,” the president of LifeChoice UNSW, Anna Fernon, said.
