This letter was sent to the USU Board on February 28 in response to an act of vandalism against the LifeChoice Sydney OWeek Stall.
Dear USU President Astha Rajvanshi,
I write to you on behalf of LifeChoice Sydney to complain about an act of vandalism against our club’s Oweek stall in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, members running our Oweek stall experienced minor instances of bullying, and the defacing of our club banner with adhesive stickers.
This morning we arrived to find our stall trashed, with abusive graffiti and more stickers scrawled across the front.
As I’m sure you will appreciate, this intimidating behaviour is unacceptable and should not be tolerated on our campus. LifeChoice members have a legitimate right to be on campus; to be able to express our views in a safe and respectful environment.
At this time, we have no idea as to who perpetrated the vandalism and although Women’s Collective ‘pro-choice’ stickers were used, we do not believe the Collective endorses this kind of behaviour. These were the actions of a non-affiliated group of students.
I ask what steps the USU Board and University authorities intend to take to condemn these bullies and their scare tactics on our campus.
President, LifeChoice Sydney
