58% Increase in QLD Abortions Since Abortion-to-Birth Legalisation

Pro-life organisation Cherish Life Queensland has revealed a shocking increase in the number of abortions in Queensland between 2018 and 2019.

In 2018, prior to abortion-to-birth being legalised, there were 16,743 abortions committed in the state.

In the year following legalisation, the abortion numbers jumped to 26,583. This is an increase of 58% in just one year.

Furthermore, despite only making up 20% of Australia’s population, Queensland accounted for almost 60% of all chemical abortions in the country in 2019.

These statistics are revealed just days after QLD Health Minister Yvette D’Ath wrongly claimed in Parliament that “the passing of this [abortion] legislation has not led to an increase in the number of terminations.”

Ms D’Ath has clearly misled the Parliament and the public.

The reality is that every abortion ends the life of an innocent human person. These babies and their mothers deserve so much better.

With thanks to Cherish Life Queensland.
